Immersion Heater
This 10 kW 240 Volt single phase immersion heater has the capability to maintain the water inside of the tank at 75 degrees Fahrenheit with outside temperatures reaching as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater is CSA certified for both the US and Canada. There is an amber indication light on the control panel that illuminates when the heater is in operation.
Insulation
The 2" thick insulation is extruded polystyrene and features high compressive strength, high resistance to moisture absorption and excellent thermal performance. The tank is insulated on all six sides and has an R value of 10.
Frame Construction
The tank shower unit comes in two pieces for ease of shipping. The frames for both are constructed from 11 gauge stainless steel type 304 box tubing and the remaining panels and tank are fabricated from stainless steel Type 304. Unit has been approved for wind gusts up to 90 MPH.
Eyewash/Emergency Shower
Eyewash is activated by a 47-1/2" stainless steel pull rod that is attached to a 1" stainless steel ball valve connected to the tank. The eyewash has a stainless steel bowl that is mounted to the stainless steel frame with a cast aluminum bracket. A weep hole is located in the supply elbow to allow for drainage and freeze protection in the winter months. The eyewash heads are low flow spray heads and supply .85 gallons per minute. The shower is activated by a 29" pull rod that is attached to a 1" stainless steel ball valve connected to the tank. The shower has a stainless steel shower head which flows at 20 gallons per minute for 15 minutes.
Electrical Requirements
The self contained shower is completely wired and tested in our factory. A single gang junction box is located on the back of the unit for electrical hook up. The unit's electrical specifications are 240 V, Single Phase, 60 Hz and 42 Full Load Amps.
Mechanical Requirements
Some assembly is required for the self contained shower and it needs to be attached securely to a concrete pad for maximum stability. Securing the frame to the concrete pad requires (8) 5/8" x 4 1/4" anchor bolts.
Control Panel
The water temperature in the tank is maintained by a digital PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) temperature controller that adjusts the temperature to maximize the efficiency of the heater. The PID controller stabilizes the temperature variable in relation to the desired temperature set point by calculating the optimum PID values. This control algorithm prevents excessive overshoot/undershoot conditions in the temperature and maintains a more stable relationship between the desired temperature set point and the actual process variable. Control panel enclosure is NEMA 4X rated.
Level Indication
There are two lights on the control panel that pertain to the level of the water in the tank. The green light indicates that the tank is full of water and is ready to be used for the full 15 minutes. When the green light is not illuminated the tank shower needs to be filled. The second light, which is red, illuminates when the tank is an eighth full, when this light illuminates, it also cuts off power to the immersion heater to prevent the heater from burning out. There is also a heater well to ensure the heating element does not burn out when the water is low.
